Email notification

Hey guys, Thought I'd post my 2 cents and see what you oaks think. I know it's in the forum support section so I am not expecting many views.

I just thought it would be pretty decent if you could receive an email notifying you of any activity that has happened to a topic you have written on.

For example, if you just want to check the recent activity on the forum that concerns you (topics you have replied to) then you can go check your emails, and see whats been happening. If many people reply to the same topic which you have already replied to, only 1 email will be sent to you so that there isn't an overload of emails concerning the same topic. Once the topic is viewed, it will re-set the email system (send a new email for any new activity).

Just a thought, maybe I'm the only one that thinks this.

Oh shit, I have just seen now that there is a check box under the page that you see when posting a reply that says "notify me when a reply is posted".....great, I feel like a dousch!

haha yeah its a feature already implemented in the forums.

Some guys are having problems with them not getting the notifications when a topic is replied too- even when they are subscribed....

For a moment there the thread subscription option was the issue for me... unfortunately not... dam oh well i guess will just have to keep checking back regularly for replies and new posts...

Is there no way that an email can be sent out? So that if we are checking our emails quick, we can see the rplies via a direct link-Like facebook?

Ive made a couple changes to some modules. If you are still not receiving email notifications im sorry there is nothing more I can do. At this point i can only put it down to your mail server not delivering the Forums mails. Check the "Manage subscriptions" link in your Control Panel to see what you are subscribed too. ucp.php?i=main&mode=subscribed

hey Hank. This seems to be working now (jan 2010). Was this part of the upgrade?
