Etnies Brake 2.0 First Look

First Look: Etnies Brake 2.0! (Original Post)

I have always been an Orchid Footwear fan, I rode nothing else for a long time…up until about 8 weeks ago.

The nice guys from Etnies S.A sent me over a pair of new Nathan Williams Brake 2.0 samples. I’m quite picky when it comes to shoes as I have skinny feet and nic-nac toes that are prone to breaking quite easily. Riding flatland your feet tend to work out a lot more than the average rider. So having a stiff sole and some ankle support is an absolute must. From the get go lets just say I am hooked. Orchids served me well for a very long time, quality, style and being a BMX specific shoe was a no brainer for me. However with the availability and price(exchange rate) I was finding it hard to spend the money. I have never been a fan of what has been available locally; whack low low cut styles and skate shoes generally being over priced is not to my liking very much. Told you I’m picky.

I love these shoes. Without getting into all the technical whoohaa about them, these are real comfy. They feel slim at first, but after the first ride you feel quite at home in them. In fact they don’t even have that ‘must still get used to them’ feel, they are comfy from the first lace up. The ‘ankle protection’ bit on the inside really does help, the dual density sole does its job and the shoe is quite light so you don’t feel like you wearing a moon boot. I love these shoes.
