MURRAY

Murray “En Route” for Odyssey + Interview

[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]I connected with Murray Loubser to get a little bit more info on what went into the making of this banger of a vid for Odyssey called “En Route”.

Hey Murray, well done on this new edit!
Yo, thanks a mill Hank, hyped

Over how many months did it take to put this edit together? Yeah I pretty much filmed the video in just over the time period of year and s bit. At the time I was living out in Gansbaai which meant I had to make the 2 and a half hour drive down to Cape Town to film with Kevin. Also was tricky to find a date that worked for both of us to link up as we both busy dudes and have a lot going on. but we got it done, stoked.

You recently moved down to Cape Town, what prompted this?
Yeah, I made the move down here a couple of months back, and couldn’t be more happy with the decision. I was spending so much time CPT couch jumping that it made perfect sense to just move here and settle in. The BMX scene in CPT is amazing and there are so many more quality spots to ride this side. Plus I recently Got bumped onto Vans ZA and the whole team is based in Cape Town so ya it moving here seemed like the most logical thing to do. Another big bonus is I am now living with Wayne Reiche and Kevin Schnider, two bad ass BMX legends that get stuff done.

Was the edit filmed mainly in CT?
Yip, most the clips were filmed in the Cape Town, the few that weren’t were filmed in Stellenbosch.

Any injuries sustained during the filming process?
Yeah I did get injured. I did my ribs in real bad and got a roasted my skin off to the bone on my knuckle. Was out for about 2 months. Wasn’t a fun one haha

In your street adventures with filmer Kevin Schnider, did you get to meet Bevin at all and if not, do you think he has retired?
Nah, the Bevin comes out to play every once in awhile, but not a usual occurrence while out on the streets. Safe to say Bevin is far from being retired.

Without giving away too much where do you think has the best street spots to ride in CT?
Hmm, Sea point for a afternoon cruise with the gents, and UCT campuses for filming, it is loaded with spots.

You were in Estonia recently for the Simple Session event, what was it like competing against those guys?!
Man, Estonia was a trip and Simple Session even more so. To be honest it was amazing to ride with those dudes. there were only good vibes and it was so epic to watch the levels of BMX being pushed on such a casually note. Keen to head over for the next one.

Have any cool stories you can tell us from your time in Estonia?
I really wouldn’t know where to start lol. All I can say is get over there next year and witness the craziness

Anything else in the works we can look out for?
A Vans team trip video should be dropping in the next month or so. Besides that I am not working on anything of yet. Bugging Kevin to start a new project ASAP. I am always keen to film.

Any shout outs?
Yes for sure! Massive shoutout to all the brands that support me and keep me doing what I am doing. Thank you BMX for all the opportunities and shoutout to Odyssey BMX Sunday Bikes, Vans ZA and Red Bull ZA for keeping me rolling solid. Also a massive thanks to God, my Family, and friends that have always been there for me and given me the support I need. Yeeew Video filmed and edited by Kevin Schnider.
